Let’s Talk About Confidence

About confidence

First thing to agree on is that you can’t please everyone. It is way too exhausting and will never happen. Not everyone likes you, similarly as you don’t like everyone. It is just the way it is. And that is ok. It is not about you. It is about what other people value in their life, how they see the world, and what kind of people they would like to have around them.

The second thing to realise is: You are enough – exactly the way you are. This goes hand in hand with the above.

Positive self-affirmations are a good way to manifest confidence for yourself. If you are writing a journal, make it a habit to include positive statements about yourself in there. Words are very powerful. They influence your thoughts and feelings about yourself and others. Be careful how you self talk. Ensure you are positive.

The next one is often difficult for people: Don’t mind what other people think about you. Of course this is a generic sentence that might not be 100% true. Of course I mind what my family and friends think of me. But I don’t think they always have to agree with what I am thinking or doing. And your real friends and family should accept you the way you are anyway. I am talking about what I mentioned above: Not everyone will like you.

If someone that you hardly know thinks something about you that you know is not true, why bother changing his or her mind? Is it really important?

All of the above might sound selfish but obviously everything should be done in a manner so you don’t upset others.

In the end being yourself all the time comes down to your confidence.

Why no one is confident all the time

No one is confident all the time. It is just the way it is. If you know someone who is always confident when you see that person, be sure he/she is not like that all the time. This might be due to some negative feedback that they received or self-doubt that is arising.

Unfortunately not everything goes to plan all the time. Things might take longer than you thought or take a totally different route. Things change. This is normal and you are not alone!
