Six steps to become a more confident presenter

Most of us have been or will be in a situation where you have to present in front of people or even online with a software. Some of us might want to offer public speaking as part of their service that they offer. One of the things to become better at this is to work on your confidence and use a simple step by step approach to improve over time.

I developed The Public Speaking Formula – 6steps that will make you a more confident presenter. The acronym I am using is IMPACT

  • Identify the real you
  • Make it good
  • Present it your way
  • All about the language
  • Contact them
  • Things to consider

Identify the real you

This section is all about being yourself – all the time. But who is the real you? A lot of the time people don’t know. Make sure you are working on this before moving onto the next step.

Make it good

In step 2 you should look at how you can prepare better for any kind of presentation or public speaking event. A good preparation is athe basis for a good presentation. What do you need to prepare?

Present it your way

Being a good public speaker has many factors. Not only is it about the way you speak, your content and body language but also the presentation itself. This is what step 3 is all about. Create an engaging presentation that the audience can follow.

All about the language

Take a look at your body language but also at the actual language that you are using and what preferences people have. Start with yourself and then try to improve it along the way. One thing at a time.

Contact them

You should always remember to follow up with your audience. Have a plan in place how you will follow up, make notes of what you have promised them when make sure you deliver.

Things to consider

Have a think of the other things you need to consider. How can you handle stage fright? What can you do when losing the plot? What if things go wrong? How can you handle questions? Have a plan B at hand and prepare for all these eventualities.
