Developing a marketing mindset – Part 2

In this blog post, I will explain to you the second 5 out of the 10 principles of a powerful marketing mind-set (the first 5 will you can find in the previous blog post) that were put together by Jürgen Wolff who is mentioning them in his book ‘Marketing for Entrepreneurs’. In addition to these 10 principles, I have added 2 more as I think they are very important.

Test continuously

Once you have put your marketing plan together and are executing marketing activities, you need to monitor what is working and what is not. There is no point doing any marketing if you don’t know this. Test along the way and adjust accordingly.

Learn from failures

You will have heard this before. Make sure you analyse why a marketing activity is not working and adjust accordingly. What can you learn and transfer to other marketing activities?

Learn from successes

As important as learning from failures, is also learning from successes. Why did it work and what learning can you transfer to other marketing activities?

Be flexible

These days, the world changes so quickly. New marketing channels come out all the time, new competitors will be born, and the economy will change. But not only that – your own life might have significant changes to it. Being flexible is key to successful marketing campaigns. If you see that something is not working, adjust it.

Know when to outsource

Especially when you are a start-up, your budget will be tight and you want to do everything yourself to save some money. But don’t forget that your time is also valuable. If you need 3 months to complete a task that would cost you £1,000 to outsource, is it worth outsourcing and investing your time in something else?

Be authentic

Well, of course I had to add this one. This is what it is all about. With authentic marketing you will enjoy it much more and your network, followers and ideal clients will identify and appreciate honesty and authenticity.

Be mindful

Another one I have added. You don’t have to overdo marketing. Be mindful of it. It will help distribute your time and money better and you won’t get stressed.
