How To Stick To Your Productivity Habits – Part 2

The previous blog post talked about how to stick to your productivity habits doing things yourself. Why try doing everything yourself? There is always help out there and it will also keep you accountable if you get other people involved. Let’s explore.

ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER

Do you remember when you were in school and you had to write an essay or do some homework? Do you also remember that you sometimes left it till the last minute? Leaving things till the last minute might not be the best things to do, and I am always someone who likes to get things done there and then when I can rather than leaving it till the last minute, but at least you get things done if you have a deadline or need to report to someone. This is the same for any personal development that you want to go through – including productivity. Telling someone that you will do it will give you motivation to get it done. I suggest you find an accountability partner – someone like a friend, a family member, a Coach, a Mentor, anyone, telling them which productivity tools and habits you want to implement. Then agree with them that they will check in with you how it goes. If you struggle, you can simply ask yourself why and see if you can get motivated or find a different way.

PEOPLE YOU SURROUND YOURSELF WITH

It comes back to the question: Where do you work? Do you work in an office, at home, in a co-working space? But rather than just the where, it is also important to look at the ‘who’. Who is around you when you work? How do they work? Are they distracting you? Yes, it is nice to have a chat and break up your work. Make sure these breaks are scheduled breaks and don’t interrupt your flow – especially when you get interrupted by someone else rather than taking the break consciously yourself. This is the same with all distractions. You constantly need to watch out for things that distract you and ensure you will avoid them.
